A Message From The Principal

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at PBS! My name is Ms. Karen Velasquez and I am the principal at Precious Blood School. Let me start by telling you a little about myself. This is my first year here at PBS, but I have over 15 years of teaching experience. I also have 7 years of experience as an administrator. I can proudly say that I am a product of catholic education, too. I am sure that we will have a wonderful year together. The best is yet to come. Now, let me remind you what makes Precious Blood School so special.

Precious Blood Catholic School is the "hidden jewel" in the greater Los Angeles area. We pride ourselves in being a value-centered school. It means that our main concern is to educate our children in a faith-based environment where expectations and individual attention are promoted.

At PBS, our students aspire to be active Catholics, life-long learners, and matured individuals who will become productive members of the school, the community, and society.  We have a state-of-the-art technology program with a fully functional computer lab.  Our classrooms are equipped with desktop PCs, laptops, projectors, and SmartBoards that allow full integration of technology in students’ learning process. Our dedicated faculty members are committed to intervention in order to address individual needs and teach children to be self-confident and responsible citizens.

Our curriculum includes daily Religion courses and weekly P.E., Art, and Music classes.  We are proud to promote community service outreach projects, organized sports, clubs, and leadership organizations where students become part of an integral and relevant environment of giving.  In addition, our academic projects include in-house academic competitions, Decathlon, Science Fair, Young Authors’ Night, and other experiential opportunities.

PBS provides a safe and nurturing environment where young learners are constantly inspired to become leaders in their community at large.  Students lead liturgies, organize, and collect donations to numerous non-profit organizations that assist children and at risk families.

I personally invite you to join our PBS community where the entire faculty, parents, and children are always eager to celebrate everyone’s individuality and God-given talents in an environment of joy, peace, and unity.  Come and visit our campus to learn how we can make a difference in the life of your child today!

Sincerely,
Karen Velasquez, Principal
